Born in Mexico City and based in Brooklyn, NY, Angel Nevarez is a visual and sound artist whose practice explores remote technologies, networked physical and virtual spaces, the electromagnetic spectrum, contemporary music, dissent, and public forums. His work has been exhibited internationally at institutions such as the Henie Onstad Kunstsenter (Norway), Manifesta 8 (Spain), The New Museum (NY), ICA Philadelphia, and INSITE (San Diego-Tijuana).
Nevarez studied Biology at the University of California, San Diego, and was a Studio Fellow at the Whitney Museum Independent Study Program. Throughout his career, he has developed collaborative projects—such as Another Protest Song: Karaoke with a Message—and received major recognition, including the Guggenheim Fellowship (2020) and numerous artist residencies across the Americas and Europe.
His work is included in prominent collections and has been featured in major publications such as The New York Times, Artforum, Bomb Magazine, and Art in America. Nevarez has also lectured and led workshops at universities and cultural institutions around the world.
