Sylvia Mata, President, and Carlos Torres Machado, CEO, the vision behind ArteLatAm.
How It All Began
What started as a shared vision between our President, Sylvia Mata, and our CEO and Lead Artist, Carlos Torres Machado, has evolved into a powerful movement for cultural empowerment.
Our mission has always been clear. We transform local talent into tangible opportunities. Through strategic alliances with developers, the private sector, and government agencies such as the NYCPC, we have built bridges that connect creativity with professional and educational growth.

The Dream Team
The People Who Paint the Vision
Behind Sylvia Mata’s distinguished 20-year career lies an unwavering driving force: the ability to transform data, economics, and strategy into real-world opportunities for people.
Her leadership style seamlessly blends analytical precision with a deep devotion to social impact, successfully bridging the corporate dynamic and the non-profit sector across Latin America and the United States.
Sylvia’s strategic vision is backed by a solid global academic foundation. She holds a degree in Economics and a BA in Statistics from the Central University of Ecuador, coupled with an MBA from The Business Institute in Madrid, Spain.
This unique combination allows her to decipher complex economic landscapes while building sustainable, human-centered structures for growth.
"For Sylvia, leadership isn't measured by titles held, but by the doors we open and the tools we provide for the next generations."
Her commitment to equity and community development is deeply rooted in her legacy as the former National Commissioner of the North East Women for The League of United Latin American Citizens (LULAC) and former President of the LULAC Council for Education in Queens, New York.
Today, she capitalizes on this rich trajectory and her extensive executive experience across public and private sectors to lead with empathy, driving initiatives where business excellence and social transformation always go hand in hand.

President and Co-Founder
For Carlos Torres Machado, art is not just a visual experience; it is a powerful tool for communication, psychological connection, and social transformation.
As a visionary leader, visual artist, and independent curator, Carlos has spent his career breaking boundaries, using his unique perspective to elevate Latin American art and culture while building sustainable creative ecosystems in New York and beyond.
His innovative approach is anchored in a multidisciplinary academic background. He holds a BA in Contemporary Art and Communication, with specialized studies in Photography and Psychology from the University of San Francisco de Quito, Ecuador, and the University of the Arts in Buenos Aires, Argentina.
This diverse foundation allows him to lead with both strategic insight and deep emotional resonance, understanding how art influences human behavior and community identity.
"For Carlos, creativity is a bridge to empathy. True leadership lies in curating spaces where diverse voices can connect, challenge, and inspire."
Carlos’s talent and impact have been widely recognized in the competitive New York art scene.
He received the prestigious New York Regional Award in 2017 by the Bombay Sapphire Artisan Series and was awarded art residencies at the Brooklyn Art Space (2016) and the Bushwick Generator (2020).
