PRIDE: In this project, led by artists Darwin Erazo and Carlos Torres Machado, a professional team created a vibrant indoor mural titled “PRIDE.” The work was designed as a visual anchor for the school’s hallway, embodying the core values of the educational community through bold typography and diverse silhouetted profiles.
“PRIDE: Power, Respect, Integrity, Determination, Equity.”
The process began with a deep consultation with school staff and students, ensuring the concept resonated with their daily experience and their commitment to inclusion. Our artists developed a colorful and unique concept that uses perspective and a spectrum of shades to represent the multifaceted identity of the student body.
The execution involved meticulous wall preparation, precise drawing of the large-scale lettering, and the application of high-quality art materials to ensure the mural’s longevity. Beyond the paint, the mural serves as a constant reminder of the strength found in diversity and the shared values that guide the school’s culture.
“This mural transforms a transit space into a site of identity, celebrating the inclusive spirit of the Bronx student community.”
The finished work stands as a symbol of the collaboration between professional artists and educational institutions, demonstrating how public art can reinforce positive social messages and foster a sense of belonging in every student who walks past it.
