The Queens Public Library (QPL) runs an inspiring virtual series dedicated to recognizing pioneering immigrant women in the United States. In one of its recent episodes, the library invited Sylvia R. Mata, President and Co-Founder of ArteLatAm, to share her story and career journey.
Sylvia Mata is a leader with over 25 years of experience in economics, marketing, and public relations. She holds an MBA in Marketing and has led numerous high-impact initiatives across both nonprofit and for-profit sectors.
As the head of ArteLatAm, a New York-certified Women’s Minority Business Enterprise (M/WBE) in New York City, New Jersey, and New York State since 2016, Sylvia has built an organization that promotes education, the arts, and economic development as powerful tools for social transformation.
Her work has been recognized for cross-cultural leadership, especially within the Latino community, and for her ability to build bridges between the United States and Latin America. During the interview, conducted by Selina Sharmin of QPL, Sylvia shared her vision of how art and education can empower underserved communities and create opportunities for cultural inclusion and social change.
