The theme presents the look and personal proposal of each participating artist, being one of the main approaches to show the artistic potential of today’s Latina women. The exhibition entitled DIVERSE WOMEN IN ACTION is featured by artists from Mexico, the Dominican Republic, Ecuador, Colombia, Costa Rica, Argentina, Cuba, and the United States.

“Throughout the 20th century, Latin American artists have been active participants in the artistic languages of the time. However, the narratives and samples that shaped the century elevate men as the main references. In general, there are few women artists chosen to represent the field, the same ones who have been reviewed over and over again. DIVERSE WOMEN IN ACTION aligns itself with the 21st century by empowering female artists in the contemporary art scene,” said Sylvia Mata, president of ArteLatAm and vice president of women of LULAC for the northwest.

The curatorship, conceptualization, and museography of this exhibition is carried out by the visual artist, cultural lider, and executive director of ArteLatAm, Carlos Torres Machado.

The proceeds for the sale of work will be used by the LULAC National Women’s Commission for the benefit of women’s programs and projects at the national level.
